The following are the results of the YK Beach Co-Ed Cup this past Saturday, August 21, 2010.
First of all, kudos goes out to Mother Nature – we had a warm, sunny day for our final Beach Volleyball Tournament of the summer!

Tier 1, and winner of the Co-Ed Cup:
1st – Gillian Waugh and Chad Hinchey
2nd – Dana Harris and Ron Chiasson
3rd – Meika Stewart and Daniel Stewart

Tier 2 Finals:
1st – Megan Clelland and Tyler Comeau

2nd – Skylar Urschel and Dylan Short
3rd – Chloe Smith and Garrett Hinchey

It was a fantastic season of Beach Volleyball this year, evident in the level of play everyone has reached.
A special thanks goes out to all the players, the volunteers, Fred Henne Park, and everyone involved.

Now, although we’re shutting down for the season, don’t forget about the Snow Volleyball Tournament held annually in March on the ice (usually the 3rd weekend of March)… Next year will be the 5th annual event, so we want as many teams out there as possible!!

It’s that final event of the season you’ve all been waiting for! The Annual YK Beach Volleyball Co-Ed Cup!

1 male and 1 female per team
Dress in matching colours or “wacky” uniforms!
Fee: $25/person

To Register: Email ykbeach@gmail.com with your name, partner’s name and whether you want to be placed in A or B division (if there are enough players we’ll split up the teams into different divisions!).
The “CUP” will only be awarded to the winning team of the A Division
Prizes for all places in both A and B Division!!

Schedule of Events:
8:30am – Volunteer Net Set Up
10:00am – Team Sign-In and Warm-Up
11:00am – Games Begin!
3:00pm – Finals
6:00pm – YK BEACH BARBECUE

Following the Co-Ed Cup, YK Beach Members and players in the tournament are welcome to the end-of-season Barbecue! We’ll either have it there on the beach, or in the day-use area at Fred Henne Park. More information on the Barbecue will be available closer to the tournament day.

So tell all your friends, and get registered! Deadline for Registering is Thursday, August 19, 2010 at 4pm.

What an amazing weekend of beach volleyball!! Saturday was piping hot, with temperatures in the sun well above the reported 28C. It was an all-day Senior Division push to claim top honours with the following results:

Sr. Women’s

Sunday was very rainy, but everyone competed with tons of energy (even after seeing a funnel cloud forming over what appeared to be the prospector trail!!) The following are the results for Sunday’s Jr. NWT Beach Volleyball Championships:
