2012 Snow Volleyball Tournament

Snow Volleyball Action ShotIt’s that time of year again! The sun is rising earlier and setting later every day… which means we’re getting closer to our annual Snow Volleyball Tournament here in Yellowknife, NT.

At 62°26′32″N 114°23′51″W where snow arrives and stays put from November to April, it’s an athlete’s wonderland – even if you’re used to squishing your toes in the sand… you’ll find that snowpants, winter boots, mitts and a toque aren’t that bad an alternative when you can still jump around in “soft stuff”… Some would say a dive in the snow is way better than sand – cause, well – you can eat a mouthful of snow – not sand!

We’re gearing up and getting ready to have our 6th annual YK Beach Snow Volleyball Tournament on

Saturday, March 10, 2012

An open, co-ed event for all athletes ages 16+, be sure and email ykbeach@gmail.com to get your team of 2 to 4 players registered.  We’re going to try and make this event a fundraiser for our local NWT SPCA Shelter currently under construction… So if you’re a local business that would be interested in donating some swag for prizes, please let us know!!

Minimum fundraising amount per team is $50 – donation forms will be distributed when you sign up via email.

Practice your moves, and get ready – it’s going to be another epic tournament!

2011 Co-Ed Cup and NWT SPCA FUNDRAISER!

Saturday, August 13, 2011

This year will be our 5th Annual YK Beach Co-Ed Cup, and we’re making it extra special!! We’re raising funds for the NWT SPCA Shelter!!  We ask all teams interested in playing to register ASAP at ykbeach@gmail.com.  You will then receive a pledge form for raising funds.  We are asking that each team raise a minimum of $100.

The overall goal of this event is for YK Beach to raise a minimum of $5,000 for the sponsorship of a cat condo in the shelter OR $10,000 for sponsorship of a Dog Apartment!!  This means that YK Beach will present the total funds raised to the NWT SPCA at the DOG BALL (August 13, 2011 at the Top Knight)!!  If we reach our goals, YK Beach will forever be recognized as a “Founding Sponsor” for that Cat Condo or Dog Apartment!!

So get out there and ask neighbours, friends, coworkers, etc to help your team raise as much funds as possible!!  There will be prizes for the team who raises the most funds, as well as prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the tournament!!

So please enter your team as soon as possible by emailing ykbeach@gmail.com

Here’s the schedule of events for the tournament:
